FAQ

  • 1. What makes SthSide Project different from other studios or schools?

At SthSide Project, we bring music, languages, and art together in one creative space. You can learn piano in multiple languages, prepare for travel with short language courses, or join a bilingual art workshop where culture and creativity collide. It’s about learning in ways that feel inspiring, practical, and human.

  • 2. Who can take piano lessons with you?

Everyone is welcome! We teach students of all ages and levels, from complete beginners to advanced players. Lessons can be tailored to exam preparation or purely for leisure, and you can choose to learn in English, Spanish, German, or Serbo-Croatian.

  • 3. How do the language options in piano lessons work?

You get to decide. You can learn fully immersed in a target language, take lessons in the language you’re most comfortable with, or simply use lessons as an enjoyable way to reinforce a language you’re already studying. We tailor all our lessons to our students’ individual needs, so whether you are a native speaker of the language, or a complete beginner and just want some more practice, we can adjust our classes to suit your needs.

  • 4. What are the short language courses like?

Our five-week Japanese and Spanish courses are designed for travellers. They focus on practical conversation, cultural awareness, and building confidence so you can connect with locals without depending entirely on Google Translate. Think of it as a friendly crash course in communication and culture before you go. We want people to connect on a human level when they travel rather than relying on AI or google translate to get by. We believe that this way, you are more likely to leave a lasting impression on locals and make friends more easily.

  • 5. I’m not an artist, can I still join a bilingual art workshop?

Absolutely! Our workshops are open to everyone, no matter your experience. Each session is led by expert artists who guide you through techniques while also sharing their language and cultural perspectives. It’s less about perfection and more about expression, creativity, culture, language, and connection.

  • 6. How much do workshops cost?

Workshop prices vary depending on the artist, style, and materials used. Each one is unique, and we’ll always share the cost and details up front so you know exactly what’s included.

  • 7. Do I need to know another language to join?

Not at all. Whether it’s piano lessons, language courses, or art workshops, everything is designed to meet you where you’re at. You can choose your level of immersion and enjoy learning at your own pace.

  • 8. Where are lessons and workshops held?

We’re based in Melbourne, with classes and workshops running in different locations (including schools and studios). Piano lessons are run in Balaclava, St Kilda East and Elwood. Some workshop offerings may also be available online. Check each course or workshop description for details.
